Counselling Theories Explained
I integrate several theoretical frameworks when working with clients. The following help me gain perspective and understanding of how clients view the world and themselves.
Attachment Theory
Explains that humans are born to connect. Positive emotional bonds formed with an attentive caregiver is essential to healthy emotional bonding throughout life. Unmet emotional needs can lead to various mental health, emotional and physiological problems.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
With ACT theory, self-awareness and staying present (even with uncomfortable emotions) while exercising mental flexibility are components of the change process.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
This theory helps us understand that our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviours. CBT is an effective treatment for many disorders including depression, anxiety, addictions, phobias etc.
